Biography

Robin Rolfhamre was born in april 1986 and has a Master's Degree of classical guitar with Master Thesis on French Baroque Lute Music from 1650-1700 at University of Agder, Norway, for Per Kjetil Farstad and Jan Erik Pettersen. He has made performances in Sweden, Norway and Spain both as a soloist with orchestra and chamber constellations, but most frequently as a soloist. Robin has specialized in baroque and contemporary music and he has made several concerts together with electronics. Robin is also in the board Ny Musikk Kristiansand (norwegian section of ISCM). He has played with musicians such as Mathew Hargreeves, Stephan Loges and Nicholas Kraemer, Tove Dahlberg and Thomas Goetchel.

In the period 2011-2014, Robin will be a PhD student at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Agder, where he will perform further research on the subject French Baroque Lute Music from 1650-1700. His research will try to shed some light on the social context of French lute music and its function as contemporary popular music, as well as investigating its technical performance.

Robin has also studied conducting with David Björkman and Jan Risberg and was in the autumn 2005 employed as conductor for Birkenes hornmusikk (wind orchestra) in Norway, a position he held until 2010. Since 2009 he is the conductor and artistic leader of the new music ensemble Ensemble Suono Nordico, currently consisting of musicians from University of Agder and Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, and in 2010 he was also appointed conductor and assistant artistic leader for the Norwegian Flute Ensemble.

As a composer he has attended lessons for composers such as Per Mårtensson, Tatjana Ristic and Henrik Strindberg. His compositions has been performed at Stockholm New Music Festival in 2005, Ultima Contemporary Music Festival 2005, Geiger Festival 2008 and Kristiansand Church Music Festival 2009. Robin has participated as sound designer in the weather installation Sila in Norway and his music has been performed by musicians such as Duo Gelland, Patrik Karlsson, Swedish Wind Ensemble and Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (the wind band).

Robin Rolfhamre est né en avril 1986 et il a un M. mus. de guitare classique chez l'Université d'Agder, en Norvège, des professeurs Jan Erik Pettersen et Phil. doc. Per Kjetil Farstad. Son mémoire de maîtrise recherche la musique baroque François de luth entre 1650 et 1700. Il a fait des concerts en la Suède, la Norvège et en l'Espagne, aussi que soliste avec l'orchestre et avec différents ensembles, mais les plusieurs fois comme soliste. Robin a spécialisé de musique baroque et contemporaine et il a fait plusieurs concerts avec des électroniques. Il a joué avec musiciens comme Mathew Hargreeves, Stephan Loges, Nicholas Kraemer, Tove Dahlberg et Thomas Goetchel.

Entre 2011 et 2014, Robin sera faire son recherche PhD dans le Faculté des Arts à l'Université d'Agder. Il va rechercher la musique baroque François de luth, entre 1650 et 1700, sa fonction comme musique populaire et sa contexte sociale, ainsi que il sera enquêter sa performances techniques.

Robin a aussi étudié le direction des professeurs David Björkman et Jan Risberg, et en automne 2005 il été employé chef d'orchestre du Birkenes Hornmusikk (orchestre à vent) en Norvège, un poste qu'il a occupé jusqu'en 2010. Depuis 2009 il est chef d'ensemble et directeur artistique d'ensemble contemporaine Ensemble Suono Nordico, actuellement composé des musiciens d'Université d'Agder et de Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, et en 2010 il a été nommé chef d'orchestre et assistant du directeur artistique de Norwegian Flute Ensemble.

Comme compositeur il a suivi des cours des compositeurs comme Per Mårtensson, Tatjana Ristic et Henrik Strindberg.
